Rain Guard — a modern concrete fence with horizontal relief

A solid concrete fence from the Modern Line, in heights of 150, 180 and 210 cm, in grey or white. What the relief looks like, which houses it suits and how much it costs per linear metre.

Rain Guard (KM209) is a concrete fence with horizontal bands of bevelled profile, stacked one below the other like the slats of a blind. The resemblance is only on the surface, however: the fence is solid, there are no gaps between the bands and the garden cannot be seen from the street.

In grey it costs from 48 €/m, in white from 79 €/m, excl. VAT, panels and posts included.

What does the Rain Guard relief look like?

Horizontal bands with a bevelled edge run across the face of the panel, with no ornaments. Stacked one on top of another, the panels continue the bands evenly over the full height of the fence.

Because of the bevelled profile, a narrow shadow falls under each band. It is most visible in sunlight and with side lighting.

The relief is on the front face only; the back is unfinished and, if desired, can be skimmed with adhesive and fibreglass mesh — at any time after installation (more in the article on a fence with relief on both sides). The panel is solid: if you want light to pass through, see Avalon — horizontal concrete slats with gaps between them.

What houses and gardens does Rain Guard suit?

The horizontal bands echo the lines of a house with a flat roof and long windows. In the gallery you will see the white Rain Guard next to a terrace.

The closest models:

  • Liner — also horizontal lines, but on a flat surface, without the blind effect;
  • Waves — also a solid panel with horizontal relief, but made of fine rounded ribs instead of bevelled bands with sharp edges;
  • Simple (smooth, no relief) and Grande — calmer panels, for when the façade has a lot of detail and the fence should stay in the background.

What heights is Rain Guard available in?

One panel measures 183 × 30 × 4–5 cm (thickness depending on the relief) and weighs 52 kg. The height of the fence depends on the number of rows:

  • 150 cm — 5 rows of panels;
  • 180 cm — 6 rows;
  • 210 cm — 7 rows.

For a residential garden, 180 cm is the most common choice. 210 cm makes sense on a busy street or when the neighbouring building overlooks you. Before settling on a height, check whether your municipality has any requirements on fence height.

Grey or white Rain Guard?

Two colours; in both, the colour is in the concrete itself, not in a layer of paint:

  • Standard grey — the natural colour of concrete. It goes with exposed concrete, dark window frames, wood and stone.
  • Premium white — the panels are cast with white Portland cement and marble aggregate; up close you can see the marble grains. It suits light-coloured façades.

Under a white fence, leave grass, gravel or paving — that is how it looks best.

In both grey and white, the fence requires practically no maintenance — no painting and no yearly repairs. More about the two colours in the article colours and finishes for a concrete fence.

How much does Rain Guard cost?

The price is per linear metre and depends on the height and the colour:

Height Grey (standard) White (premium)
150 cm 48 €/m 79 €/m
180 cm 56 €/m 92 €/m
210 cm 63 €/m 104 €/m

The price per linear metre already includes the panels and the posts. One panel costs 14 € in grey and 23 € in premium white.

Prices are excl. VAT and are for the fence elements; transport is stated in the quote, and installation is quoted separately, on request. With us, 18 of 22 models cost the same — Rain Guard is one of them. Across the whole catalogue, prices range from 37 to 78 €/m in grey and from 61 to 129 €/m in white — depending on the model and the height.

The prices of all models are in the price list, together with the prices of posts per piece — intermediate, corner, end and branch. How to get from the price per metre to a total for the whole garden — in the article how much does a concrete fence cost.

How is Rain Guard installed?

Like any precast concrete fence: the posts are concreted into individual foundations of about 40 × 40 × 80 cm (on more difficult ground — linked by a strip plinth of about 20 × 70 cm), and the panels are stacked one on top of another in the grooves of the posts — without mortar. With Rain Guard, the joint between the panels is simple. A typical fence — up to about 100 linear metres — is installed in 2–3 days with the ground prepared and the materials delivered.

The whole process is described in the article how a precast concrete fence is installed, and you will find illustrations of the two foundation options on the installation page.

What warranty does Rain Guard have and how long does it last?

  • 15-year warranty — with a warranty card and a certificate of conformity;
  • service life of over 50 years;
  • manufactured in our own factory, in operation since 2011.

On the warranty and maintenance, also read the article how long a concrete fence lasts.
