How many concrete fence panels — calculation for 25 and 50 m
How the bays, posts and panels of a precast concrete fence are calculated and what the elements for 25 and 50 metres cost — in grey and in white, excl. VAT.
For 25 metres of Simple concrete fence 180 cm high you need 14 bays: 84 panels and 15 posts. In grey that is €1,491 excl. VAT for the elements. Below is the calculation step by step, so you can do it for your own length.
How the number of panels and posts is calculated
A precast fence is counted in bays. A bay is the section between two posts. With 183 cm panels one bay is 1.90 m, with 200 cm panels — 2.07 m.
The calculation has three steps:
- Bays = the length ÷ the length of one bay, rounded up to a whole number.
- Posts = the bays + 1, if the fence is one straight line.
- Panels = the bays × the rows of panels.
The number of rows depends on the height. With 183 × 30 cm panels, 150 cm is 5 rows, 180 cm — 6 rows, 210 cm — 7 rows. With Stacked Stone (200 × 50 cm panel), 150 cm is 3 rows and 200 cm — 4 rows.
Bays are whole, so the rounding is upwards. 25 m ÷ 1.90 m = 13.2, i.e. 14 bays. They cover up to 26.60 m.
Calculation for 25 metres
Simple, 180 cm, one straight line of 25 m:
- 14 bays × 6 rows = 84 panels;
- 14 + 1 = 15 posts: 2 end posts (K14) and 13 intermediate posts (K9).
| Colour | Panels | Posts | Total for the elements |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grey | 84 × 14 € | 13 × 21 € + 2 × 21 € | 1 491 € |
| White | 84 × 23 € | 13 × 35 € + 2 × 35 € | 2 457 € |
All amounts are excl. VAT. The configurator on each model’s page counts all posts as intermediate K9 posts; which posts are end and corner posts is specified in the quote.
If you divide the total by 25 m, the metre comes out more expensive than the price in the price list. The reason is that you pay for 14 whole bays, and they cover 26.60 m. Over those 26.60 m the metre comes out at about the price-list price — €56/m in grey, excl. VAT.

Calculation for 50 metres
Simple, 180 cm, a straight run of 50 m: 50 ÷ 1.90 = 26.3, i.e. 27 bays, covering up to 51.30 m.
- 27 × 6 = 162 panels;
- 27 + 1 = 28 posts: 2 end posts and 26 intermediate posts.
In grey: 162 × 14 € + 26 × 21 € + 2 × 21 € = 2,856 € excl. VAT. In white: 4,706 € excl. VAT.
The same length with a larger panel
With Stacked Stone the panel is 200 × 50 cm and the bay is 2.07 m. For 25 m at a height of 200 cm: 25 ÷ 2.07 = 12.1, i.e. 13 bays, covering up to 26.91 m.
- 13 × 4 = 52 panels;
- 14 posts: 2 end posts and 12 intermediate posts.
In grey: 52 × 18 € + 12 × 21 € + 2 × 21 € = 1,230 € excl. VAT. There are fewer panels because they are larger.
Corners, branches and several sides
If the fence has several sides, the bays are calculated for each side separately and each is rounded up. A corner post stands at the corner (K10, 24 € in grey, 40 € in white), and where the fence branches off — a branch post (K11, 24 € in grey, 40 € in white), excl. VAT. That is why, in the enquiry, we confirm how many sides the fence has and draw up the list of elements. The prices of all posts are in the price list.
At a height of 240 cm, reinforced K9i posts are used — only with the 183 cm panels, in 8 rows.
What is not included in the calculation
The amounts above are for the panels and posts. Transport is stated in the quote and is calculated per lorry — half or full — not per metre. Installation is quoted separately, on request; what its cost depends on is described in the article on the cost of installation. For fences longer than 200 linear metres, Liner, Simple, Rain Guard and Stacked Stone also have an industrial price.
